ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Anna Klein (but some people also call me Annabel). Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, I fell in love with theatre at the age of seven, when I debuted Theseus children's production A Midsummer Night's Dream. My love for drama and Shakespeare became a grounding force in my life. Since then I have worked as an actor, writer, director, and designer. I graduated with dual honors from the University of Redlands with a BA in English Literature and Theatre Arts, and a Semester Diploma for Classical Acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.

Most recently, I have been splitting my time engaging with artistic communities around the Seattle area primarily focusing my energy as the Youth and Engagement Manager at Seattle Shakespeare Company. At the risk of sounding corny, I love my job. I am constantly inspired by the passionate and ambitious creatives who come to engage with classical text.

As an educator, I place emphasis on the power of creative communities like the ones that shaped me as a young artist. It is my goal to continue to develop inclusive, thoughtful, and positive theatre experiences for burgeoning young artists, giving them tools to express and advocate for themselves in the rehearsal room and the world beyond.

I focus my time on engaging young people in the arts, educating and invigorating conscientious and passionate arts educators, engaging the greater Seattle community with the arts, and creating relationships with organizations in need of creative opportunities for students. My work has ranged from teaching K-5 Drama Fundamentals to directing high school productions, and more.

When I'm not on or near a stage, I'm making art (check out my Graphic Design work), cooking, and listening to audiobooks.
